Markforged: All Systems Grow!

We’re excited to announce two types of expansion at Markforged: our new office space and two new executive team members.

Markforged welcomes both Bryan Semple and Brian Nadeau to our team. “Both have experience scaling hyper-growth companies in their respective functions. We have now completed building out our core management functions at the company, enabling us to accelerate our global expansion. There is a massive opportunity in front of us as we work to disrupt the $12T manufacturing market” said Greg Mark, founder and CEO of Markforged.

Bryan Semple has joined as Chief Marketing Officer (CMO) while Brian Nadeau has joined as vice president of engineering. Semple comes with a plethora of experience as a CMO, having previously held the position of CMO at Smartbear. “Markforged is one of a few companies I found that combines one of the best technical teams around with absolutely massive market potential,” said Semple. “We were early to market with a desktop-sized 3D metal printer, and we’re the only company that can print continuous carbon fiber for strong parts. Markforged is going to be a global leader in additive manufacturing.”

Nadeau has 20 years’ experience in running engineering organizations, including Simplivity and EqualLogic, with EqualLogic being acquired by Dell in 2007. Nadeau was also an early investor in Markforged, saying “I’m extremely proud of Markforged’s accomplishments, especially in metal and continuous carbon fiber printing. After watching the company scale from an investor perspective, I am excited to join as a member of the management team during this next phase of growth.”

Markforged has also added a second office space in Watertown, meaning we have access to over 80,000 ft² and room for up to 500 employees (though we won’t be stopping there!). The new space is based out of Riverworks, an old textile mill built in the early 1900s. It is not lost on us that we are working to create the next wave of industrial manufacturing in a building from the last industrial revolution. With exposed brick walls and high ceilings, employees have a lot of positive things to say about the new office.

Sunniya Saleem, director of demand generation and digital marketing, says she really values having “both outdoor space and indoor space, as it allows us to take time to work outside in the sun next to the river,” and also loves the extra perks, such as showers, endless supply of coffee and snacks, the huge auditorium for training and All Hands, and the ease of access to each person in the open-plan office.

Commercial sales representative Riley Hall echoes that sentiment. He says his favorite part of the new office is the outdoor space as it gives him “a break from the hustle and bustle of the day to day,” and allows him some space to recharge and get back to work at full capacity.

Lauren Bolduc, business development representative, says she loves how “the meeting spaces are all really dynamic, so no matter what the nature of a meeting is, whether it's company-wide in a zoom auditorium or a colleague and I strategizing via whiteboard in a one-on-one, the space is always fit for our needs.”

“My favorite office perk at the 480 location is the variety of breakout, informal work spaces we have,” says applications engineer Adam Parsons. “The fun booth seating, the individual quiet rooms, and even the outdoor tables allow a lot of unique environments in which we can work effectively or as a group to encourage collaboration.”
