Cabin Management Solutions: 機内エンターテインメント システムの改修
テキサス州を拠点とするCabin Management Solutions (CMS)は、ビジネス航空機や自家用航空機向けのキャビン管理および機内エンターテインメントシステムを設計・製造しています。同社は、OEMのレガシーベンダーが廃業してシステムを修理できなくなったという理由で古いシステムの入れ替えを依頼されることがよくあります。CMSが設計する製品はサイズの異なる複数のエンクロージャに収容されているため、従来の方法で製造するとパーツの製造に多大なコストと時間がかかります。
Cabin Management Solutionsのチームは、機内エンターテインメントシステムの改修などの際に、従来の製造ソリューションの代わりにMarkforged 3Dプリンターを使用して高価値の豪華なキャビンパーツを少量生産し、既存のものと入れ替えました。その結果、コストが下がりリードタイムが短縮され、装飾的なベゼルが必要なものを電気めっきする余裕が生まれました。使用した材料はMarkforged Onyx FRです。これは、微小な炭素繊維が充填された認定UL 94 V-0定格の難燃性ナイロンで、FAR 25.853に準拠した試験に合格しています。
