Design for Additive Manufacturing: Metals
Learn the Basics of Metal Additive Manufacturing, from how metal 3D printers work to the materials they can print with and the benefits they provide.
Metal additive manufacturing is the process by which metal parts are joined or solidified from a feedstock. Also known as 3D printing, metal additive manufacturing machines can use a variety of processes to build parts. In this track, we discuss the types of metal additive manufacturing available today, the benefits of 3D printing in metal, metals that can be additively manufactured, and the Markforged additive manufacturing process.
Note: These sections assume a basic knowledge of 3D printing, including how layer by layer printing works. If you’re just starting, check out our section on how 3D printing works to learn the basics!
