Micro-X is an Australian x-ray technology company leading a global revolution in medical and security imaging products. Their flagship x-ray unit, the Carestream DRX Revolution Nano, is lightweight, versatile, and reliable. Implementing the latest in advanced manufacturing, the Nano team are pushing boundaries to lower weight whilst maintaining a high degree of product robustness. The team uses the Markforged platform to make strong, lightweight, accurate parts to replace existing machined plastic and aluminium parts in production.
Several parts are now printed on Markforged printers using Onyx and continuous fiber-reinforced Onyx. These new parts match or improve component functional performance and potentially realise savings of 300 USD per unit. The Micro-X engineering team is continuously exploring new opportunities to replace more traditionally fabricated parts with Markforged-printed versions.
